Sclerotherapy is a method of eliminating unsightly veins and superficial spider veins. A solution called a sclerosing agent is injected into the veins; this causes the inner wall of the vein to become sticky and swollen, thus causing the vein to close off. The number of treatments needed to close of the vessels varies with each individual.
